In this lesson I offer performance advice on this arrangement of Tchaikovsky's 'Pathetique' symphony theme.

When I play this piece in a performance or recital setting I frequently repeat the entire piece several times through. I might make variations in the dynamics such as playing it loudly, then quietly, then loudly again.

Another variation I might make is to play the complete arrangement the first time through, then play it all the way through again with the added ornamental variations.

This is really a wonderful piece of music. And it is only a small part of Tchaikovsky's whole 'Pathetique' symphony, which I encourage you to seek out and listen to. It's one of my favorites.
