Harmonic Minor Scale

The Harmonic Minor Scale (1, 2, b3, 4, 5, b6, 7) can be thought of as a minor scale with a natural 7th. In the key of E it would be spelled out using the notes E, F#, G, A, B, C, and D#.

When we build triads over each note of the scale, we spell out the chords Emin, F#dim, Gaug, Amin, B, C, D#dim.

The progression we’re going to play over is a simple Emin to B. Once you get familiar with sound and fingering of the scale, feel free to create your own progressions in the key of E minor using any combination of the chords we spelled out above.
