Classical guitar style is also a type of music, a specific style or genre distinct from other styles.

It is generally more complex and involved music. It doesn't have to be, but it usually involves more and longer melodies, thematic development and harmonic motion.

Historically, the style can and does draw upon music written and performed from the Renaissance and Baroque eras (1600-1750), the Classical era (1750-1820), the Romantic era (1820-1900), The Modern era (or 20th Century era, 1900-2000), and the present day.

But we are not limited to the works of dead composers! Many fine pieces are still being written for classical guitar style in the present day. And you can always create a classical guitar style arrangement of just about any piece of music by playing all the parts of the song on the guitar.
