Here I show you a couple of different voicings for the back beat chords and how to find them so you can turn regular chords into triads and create your own back beat voicings.

We take a barre chord and strip out all the notes and frequencies we don't need, this usually leaves you with triads on the top three strings.

A great backbeat voicing should cut through but not be shrill, and on the other hand, sometimes a triad may not have a fast enough attack and sound cluttered.

So you may end up playing double stops on the two highest strings, this is a common voicing as well.

Do what you want to find just the right amount of cut through, at the end of the day it's up to you what you think the song needs.
