In this lesson we are looking at an A major scale with the root note A in the middle of the hand position. This means that the note A will be played by the middle finger and the other notes will be played on fretboard positions both higher and lower than the root note A.

This time when we move to the next octave we will use a variation on the 3rd pattern to continue directly across the fretboard. Note the shift in the pattern as we cross from the G string to the B string.
