The spice in this progression is the new time signature, 12/8. Technically, there are 12 beats per measure but you'll find it pretty difficult to count to 12 each time. 12/8 is used most often to provide a 4/4 measure with a swing feel. This happens when you divide the 12 counts into 4 groups of 3 and count them "1 2 3, 2 2 3, 3 2 3, 4 2 3". Accent the first number of the three groups and you've got it.

Here's a progression in the Key of E Major that is typical of a 12/8 progression. We'll use Dom 7 chord alternatives and only strum them on the first and third count of each grouping of three. You'll find it sounds bluesy. It's classic country "honky tonk swang".
