Chorus is an effect that fattens up the sound of your guitar by adding slight variation in the wave of the notes you play. The result is a shimmering sound that is familiar to the sound of country music of the 1980s. This sound has made a bit of a comeback in the late 90s and the current decade thanks to the rockier edge that country music has.

As you'll be able to tell from this lesson, a chorus pedal can make some strange sounds. When full on, the tone is not useable. When all settings are near 0, you can barely tell it's on. Let your ear tell you how much is too much. As a general rule, not being able to tell you're using effects is a great guage of how much to use.

Check out some Kenny Rogers, Waylon, Barbara Mandrell and many of those 80s faves to get a good taste of country chorus.
