Sometimes building chops means learning to take simple ideas and manipulate the rhythm used to play that idea. This lesson takes the first technique exercise learned in the section and puts a different spin on it by using a sextuplet rhythm.

Sextuplet rhythm is a fancy way of saying a grouping of six notes. By thinking and counting to six in one beat, you've actually sped up the way you think within a song. Up to this point, we've only counted to four notes within one beat (16th notes).

Play this exercise slowly and relax both your fretboard and picking hand. Develop "short bursts of speed" that you'll be able to extend to more than one beat later. Build those finger muscles!
