Ramping it up: Combining Fingerpicking Patterns

Previous Lesson
Next Lesson

In this next set of lessons, we'll take patterns and pattern variations you've learned so far, and begin combining them within a single song. This will allow you to create song arrangements that are more interesting, varied, and dynamic.

Learning to combine patterns leads to refined coordination, and lays the groundwork for adding in some exciting fingerpicking figures, which will be presented in Acoustic Fingerpicking Step-by-Step, Level II: Fingerpicker's Goldmine.

In this lesson, we'll look at taking Variation #1 and Variation #2 of the Four Step Pattern, and playing them back to back within a single musical phrase.
