Again, this is the crucial step in developing speed. Now that we have the pattern & the idea to play each note more than once - let's play faster and faster!
Remember to slowly increase speed. Gradually go faster and faster. I suggest to students to go as fast as you can but still keep the notes evenly spaced in time. In order to do this, use a metronome. That way you can get an objective measurement of exactly how fast you can play in order to benchmark and keep track of your progress. If you start to get uneven spacing, SLOW DOWN. You have nothing but time to practice getting faster gradually!
At the end of a practice "session", after a good amount of time practicing properly (for example after practicing this technique for 30 minutes) then you can afford the luxury of "going for it". Try to play as fast as you can! That will give you an idea of how much you may have recently improved.
After playing each note 4 times, then just play each one 3 times, gradually get down to 2 times. Eventually the goal is of course to play each note only once. But keep in mind that playing each note more than once is also a useful technique and even quite musical sounding.
More ReviewsI find it quite easy (so far!) to navigate, and found the "where do I start" to be very helpful! I'm getting there!!
I LOVE the forum, too. I've never been one to use forums, but the GT forum is full of great people and helpful information at ALL levels! Congrats on a WONDERFUL site!!
Good job!
