Definition for: Semi-hollow body

A guitar with a solid, central neck through body piece and hollow 'wings' on either side. This provides some of the benefits of both hollow and solid body guitars, not being quite as loud as acoustics but still having a warm tone. They are commonly used in folk, blues and pop music.
