Definition for: Minor

A counterpart to major, meaning sad and somber. A minor scale or chord is primarily identified through the minor interval, which is a flattened third. If the third in a major scale or chord is flattened, it becomes a minor. There are harmonic, melodic and natural minor scales, amongst others.
