Definition for: Chord voicing

The specific order and spacing of the pitches within a chord. For example, a C major chord (C, E and G) could be played with a C, G, an octave higher C and the E above that. This creates different versions of the same overall sound. Chord voicings are extremely useful for songwriting for this reason.
