Definition for: Bridge (of a song)

A one-off section of a song which serves to split repeating sections. Usually employed towards the end of a song, after a couple of repititions of the verse and chorus sections. It often provides a constrast with the other sections of the song and prepares the listener for the return to the more familiar sections.
