Blues track with an Acoustic?

Hi everyone, working through the beginners track and decided to look ahead. I'm interested in the Blues track, but I have and Electric/Acoustic, not a straight electric.

I'm too green to know if this will work and I noticed many of the videos seemed geared towards electric. Will I be ok with the acoustic on the Blues track?

Can someone shed a little light - thanks!

I quite often just pick up an acoustic and play whatever they are teaching regardless. Might not get the bends quite as good as can on an electric but it's not going to hurt your playing. Could be wrong though but thrash that acoustic and everything else will fall into place.

i think and I'm pretty sure of it you can use an acoustic guitar especially for the purpose of learning the blues.

the only difference is the tone you get out of an acoustic may be not the perfect match for that genre. However that tone stuff comes at later stage. First learn the blues

It will, if you can play electric on acoustic then you are a genius.

I find acoustic to be harder than electric.

Just try to shred on acoustic and then electric, you will know.

Otherhand learning is the main goal be it acoustic or electric, doesn't matter at all

Playing blues on an acoustic is awesome. Don't sweat it. Like another said, acoustic is physocally harder than electric and if you get it down on acoustic, electric will be a cakewalk.

Let's keep in mind until the British guys plugged in and then sent it back to the states, all blues was on acoustic. There was no electric blues until then.

And yeah @Tinpan when I'm feeling lazy I will often just pick up the acoustic to practice even if the piece is for electric. Oh wait! That's all the time!! In keeping with the season I am working a "Jingle Bells Blues". Definitely designed for electric but when I find I have only a couple minutes I grab the acoustic.

And I will 3rd, if you master on acoustic you may very well find it easier when you do plug in. So yes, you should be fine working the material on acoustic.
