I don't know if anybody has tried these but IMHO, they work great! They cost $10 and as you can see, they are tacky.

Fun! Such modification of picks work but I suspect they also delay the new guitarist in learning how to keep a grip on picks.
None the less, a long time ago I resorted to the same kind of thing using adhesive, Velcro-like dots on my picks. Available in the hardware or sewing aisles of your favorite box store (but seldome seen in guitar shops 
).
