Hey guys,

Pretty fresh meat here XD

Small question about the spider training:

I'm trying to figure out where my thumb should exactly go.

According to the practive video in the website she mention that it should be usually in the middle of the second finger behind the neck.

and that it should be pretty staight forward on the neck.

but when I try to do the spider training and leaving my thumb in the middle behind the neck after a short period of time it feels uncomfortable and kinda feel stressed or small pain for the thumb.

is this the right way to do it and the thumb will get used to it over time?

or should i place it differently?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Jericho2242,

Thumb placement is always a good question. The most accepted placement for your thumb when fretting or playing scales like spider exercises is to simply place it behind the neck. It does not necessarily have to be specifically between certain fingers, or anything. It's important to feel comfortable in your hand and wrist.

Remember, playing guitar is not science when it comes to your actual hand and finger nuances. You have to hit the right notes, that's the only rule.

I hope that helps.

Remember, relax!

Billy
