Buzzing D string

I have a real problem with the D string buzzing when I hold down the A string at the 2nd fret, like when making a G chord. Anyone else have the same problem? Any tips?

if it's the buzzing sound is made by the D string brushing the frets, then it's the bridge thats the problem, there should be two screws on the bridge for it's height, adjust the one on the D string and that should fix the problem.

It could be a number of things. If you're lucky, you can fix the problem by raising the saddle a little bit. If that doesn't work (or throws your intonation off), you may have a high fret that needs to be filed down (don't try it yourself unless you are experienced at guitar repairs & set ups). The problem could also be the neck twisting or bowing, in which case you'd need a truss rod adjustment. Don't try the latter two on your own, messing with that stuff (especially the truss rod) is a very easy way to ruin your guitar beyond repair. Have a tech take a look at your guitar.

Maybe I should have specified this in my original post. I'm using an acoustic guitar, so I don't have any adjustable bridges or truss rods or anything like that...

you can fix a fret buzz by sticking some sandpaper under the nut of the buzzing string. the paper lifts the string slightly, which keeps the string off the frets that is is buzzing against. sandpaper is used because it sorta grips the nut.

here's what you do:
1. loosen string
2. put a 1/8 inch strip of medium fine (150 grit) sandpaper under the string, rough side down.
3. tighten the string.
4. cut the excess sandpaper away with a razor blade.

if it is your bridge on your acoustic take it to a guitar shop and they can lower and raise the bridge for you, my sister got her bridge lowered for a cheap price. Anyway hope it helps
