Would like an exercise that "I" could practice. Spider legs is way to hard for me now because I barely can find my fingering on a fret in progression in under a beat and I have no flexibility. I can't figure out how to keep 4 fingers on the 5th and 6th strings spread out to 1 fret each without it feeling like my wrist is going to break. The others I can reach.

Any help is appreciated,

Chuck

Hey & welcome to GT, Chuck!

For now, you could just do the spider legs with three fingers or only on the frets & strings you can reach. And play it a little more slowly. Gradually work on increasing your reach & speed as you improve!

When I warm up I do chords & scales, but very slowly & deliberately. So, for example I'll play some simple chord changes like this tutorial in GF2:

Then, I'll play some simple scale exercises like this tutorial in GF2:

Sometimes I do pentatonic scales like this:

But, when I first start I play them a whole lot slower, then after 5-10 minutes I'll gradually increase the speed.

Hope that helps! Have fun. :)
