Brand new guitar player just picked one up for the first time a few weeks ago and am using this site to teach me how to play always loved the guitar blues/rock and hope this will work for me :)

As a full member i recommend you to start with the Core Learning System lessons (guitar fundamentals 1 and 2), they will give you a solid basis, starting from zero.
Then move to blues level 1 , blues level 2, country level 1, country level 2, rock level 1, rock level 2, in this sequence. Because blues and country music were the roots of rock n roll.
Of course you can jump the country music lessons if you don't like it , but i think it will give you more knowledge, musical language (vocabulary) and understanding about rock.
