I hear over and over again how G&L guitars (Jerry Cantrell swears by them and has played them since he started playing guitar.) are made so much better than Fenders and about half the cost but never see them in any stores. Why?

One guess is that those that are 'half the cost' are the imported ones and those that 'are so much better' are the hand-made ones from the original G&L plant.

Just guessing...

I have a suspicion that Fender put pressure on retailers not to stock G&L guitars. I heard from a retailer that if he stocks G&L guitars, Fender would withdraw provision of their guitars and, as a result he would lose signifcant sales revenue. How true this is I don't know.

If you go to G&L they will tell you what stores carry them. I have one made in Fullerton bought it from GC. Their line up is abput like Fender's USA guitars start about $1200 and up. I had one of their tele's that was made overseas, bought it for $299 online from MF. Sounded great, did a little set up on it but otherwise just played it Liked it
