Uhm...a danelectro fabtone is about $70 or so. Is that cheap enough for you. You can also get some great sounds out of it. I own one and its the best pedal I've ever played on. Of course that's just my opinion ,try one for yourself.

In a post like this try to include what price you think is cheap. Some people think $20 is cheap and others think anything under $200 is cheap. Personally, I like the Boss Metal-T pedal. It's about $80 though, so I don't know if that's too expensive for what you're looking for.

boss ds-1, about $40 brand new, even less used, distortion ala nirvana

ibanez tubescreamer, about $120, ala pearl jam and srv

boss metal zone - about $80, ala i dont' know but lots of metal guys use it

badhorsie is right you need to say what you think is cheap, personally though, i'd save until you can get a decent pedal, don't just buy the cheapest one you see because you probably won't be happy

It depends on what kind of sound you're going for. I like the "And Justice for All" Metallica sd, so I was dissapointed with my Fabtone.
