will string action affect intonation?

hey everyone ive got an ibanez with a lo-trs floyd rose tremelo. I just put new strings on and realized that the side with the thicker strings had higher action than the other side; that part of the bridge was raised more. Is that normal? Also, can I adjust the hieght without affecting intonation?

It is not normal that one side of your trem was raised when you changed strings. Either none, or both change equally as much.

And changing action WILL affect intonation.

The action on the bass side (thicker strings) is usually higher than the side with thinner strings. This is because the bass strings tend to move more when they vibrate.

If the original action has changed unevenly, there may be a problem with the Floyd Rose. If the higher action on the bass side is something you just noticed now, it may be OK.

yeah i just noticed the difference when I changed strings the other day. you're probably right because i never see the side that supports the high strings, and when I did it just didnt seem right.
