Tone down

I'm new to guitar just starting out and most of the music I want to learn the guitarists play 1/2 to whole step down. Is that ok to do starting out or will it change the fundamentals like chords etc while I'm learning and getting oriented?

We definitely recommend trying to keep your guitar in standard tuning for the purpose of our lessons. But of course, if you want to learn something outside of Guitartricks, or a song that we teach that calls for tuning a step down, then that's totally okay as well.

Just remember to tune back to standard tuning when doing the Fundamentals lessons!
