Hi everyone,

I have been struggling with writing music. Part of it stems from me b eing too self critical of what I produce. Another part of it stems from me not being able to 'see the big picture' of the song.

I am wondering; how do you write your songs? Do you just noodle until you find something good, and then expand on it, do you have a methodical approach or do you do something entirely different?

Thanks!

- Nikolaj

Hi nikolaj.spliid,

Writing original music is pretty tough. But there are a few great ways to put something together. It's important to know some basic chord progressions and another important thing is to be able to simply let yourself experiment and have fun. Throw everything at the wall, and see what you like.

Here's a lesson from Anders on writing music: https://www.guitartricks.com/lesson.php?input=28163

I hope that helps, and good luck!
