Hi

Was sitting watching through lessons in GF2 when the flash videos stopped loading. I noticed its for all of them.

I use Firefox and it just says in the bottom "connecting to media.guitartricks.com" and just sits there

Curious if anyone else is experiencing this ?

Regards

Noxx

I just tried a few of my own videos and they seem to be loading ok.

Is this a constant problem or just something that's been happening recently?

Only issue I've seen in recent days is that videos are slow to download. Up to now I could watch hi rez videos and they would load quicker than they would play. Now I'm having to click on play, then pause it for a minute or so, so that enough of the video gets dowloaded to watch without interruption.

I think it was a hiccup. About 30 minutes later they all started loading again.

Maybe the server just wanted a little break :)

Yeah, I've noticed it happen occasionally too. I think the Guitar Tricks server backs up and does regular maintenance once a day & that might be what's causing it. I know it used to happen in the early morning hours when the least amount of users were online but I vaguely remember somebody talking about changing it.

I'm having ALOT of difficulty viewing the videos also. I have tried multiple videos and every time it will load about 5-10 seconds of it and after playing it, jump right back to the introduction screen. I'm quite certain it's not a problem on my end as I have cable internet, have tried it with a PC and a mac, several different browsers, and I have no difficulty streaming videos from various other sites. Any help is appreciated as this is becoming very frustrating.

oh, and as an addition to the above post, i've made sure that the A-B looping function is disabled and not responsible for what i'm experiencing.

Sorry about the trouble.

That is really strange behaviour.

No one else is reporting that problem, which usually points to a browser issue.

The issues others were reporting in this thread were resolved last week.

It is strange that you have tried different computers and browsers and found them all the same.

I am totally stumped.

Anybody else having this experience?

thanks for the reply Jon. I've played around with it several different times today and still have no luck, I'm about ready to give up on it. I tried 2 different computers again and also 3 different browsers (explorer, safari, and firefox) and get the same results every time. For example, going through the fundamentals 2 lessons i get: introduction-5 seconds of video and immediately returns to intro screen. intervals pt 1- loads 6 secs of video, stops and appears to be attempting to stream more, but nothing ever happens. intervals pt 2- i get 11 secs of video every time and then it stops loading, etc. i've even let these attempt to load for 15 mins or more and nothing comes of it. i've yet to see more than 14 seconds of any video. Once again, i'm pretty sure i've exhausted any possibility of the technical difficulty coming on my end. thanks for any help

Scott,
As you can imagine, if everybody had the problems you are having, it would be a big problem for us. I wish I could point to what it is that is causing your problem.

With all the possible browser hijacker programs (adware) and their multitude of behaviours, plus all the security programs (some just silently delete your cookies) and their behaviours, it can be very difficult to find out how these things happen.

Since you have multiple test computers, it seems like a connectivity issue. Please try it at work or a friend's house, just so you can see what "normal" service from us looks like. Maybe that would provide a clue?

I wish I could be of more help. I totally understand if you have to give up.

I only noticed your reply now. I'm in the DC area.
Just so you know, I haven't had any problems w/the videos since that one dodgy week. Even the hd stuff has been loading up pretty quickly since then. Glad you got it sorted out... and thanks.

I'm also having the slow loading problem. It was fine before, but I think it's been around for about a month now. I haven't been checking that often, but now it takes about 2 times the video length to load it, in low quality.

Ironically, downloading the video via the button works at blazing fast speeds (300-400KB/sec) so I don't know why your video player won't work that fast for me :(

The site otherwise shows no signs of hiccups. East Coast, by the way.

Just thought I would post what I have experienced with my end. I have broadband IP on a win 2000 os and all the videos are lagging behind the audio.

So I need a new system b/c it is very frustrating watching delayed images.

Sucks to be me. (tks for letting me vent)

Hi,
So sorry for the trouble. It sounds like you may have a clogged/slow
internet connection.

This is what I usually suggest to our Dialup/Slow internet users: When the
video player loads and you are ready to play, press play and then play/pause
right away again. You will see a little progress bar grow to the right on the player.

Once the bar is complete, the video is 100% buffered and you can play jitter free!
Hope this helps! :D

Hi. Just my 2 cents on the issue: I have a high speed connection and also suffer the same problem. I just went into the Rock Style 1 opening video and got hangs trying to play it. Running download tests at another site I was running at good speed:

640 kilobytes per second download using a dslreport.com test and about 615 kb/s using the good old 'download a big file' method.

Downloading the video directly runs at 125 - 150 kb/s.

It is better or worse depending on the time of day and day of week, so I suspect traffic somewhere along the line is having an impact. At this time there happens to be 62 people hitting your forum server. (I do not know if this is the same server that runs your videos.)

I will try to note when I see any difference how many people are on. Perhaps it's as simple as server load at the time. GT might be too popular for it's own good. :)
...so ever since then, I always hang on to the buckle.

Some further observations... (And again, I do not know if the forum and file servers are the same, share bandwidth, or what.)

At 45 users on the forum, I had smooth play. At 83 I had some hiccups.
...so ever since then, I always hang on to the buckle.
