Hi -

i was was wondering if anyone had any recommendations. I’ve gone through Lisa’s finger picking tutorials and Caren’s finger picking Tutorials. Lisa prefers just using the thumb and first two fingers. Caren stresses using the third finger for the high position. I’ve been practicing both, but I was wondering what everyone thinks about this.

Thanks,

Kevin

I think that what is comfortable you is what u should lean toward. But i myself think that the more fingers u get involved the better u will be such as using your pinkie on the fretting hand. But in the end is whatever works for u. There are a lot of great guitarists that just use the thumb, index and pinkie.

Thanks so much for the feedback. I’m going to try and work the third finger in to be more flexible and efficient in my playing.

when if first started learning to play I used the claw hammer style only using my thumb a index and middle fingers I noticed that this is a very rhythmical method and now I am trying to use more fingers it sounds more melodic.

so I think both have there place.

hope this helps

Barry

Thanks Barry. I think that’s the way I’ll go to. Work towards adding that third finger where appropriate.
