Hi - I’m unclear on whether the pick should rest on side of index finger or on the front ( finger print) ? Thanks

Of course, the pun was intended. We all know that!

But agreed. The photo is not showing up.

I learned a long time ago to make a fist with your picking hand and place the pick between the first two knuckles. I dont think there is a technique chiseled in stone but this has always worked and more comfortable for me.

It would be good if one of the Guitar Tricks instructors could outline the correct way to do this. I've been looking for the beginner video where this is explained but can't find it. Perhaps someone could link me to the lesson where "how to hold a pick" is covered?

I have seen that some people online recommend making a fist, and resting the pick on the bent index finger. This in turn is held in place by the thumb, which is at right angles to the index finger.

This is where it is for me - not sure if the link will work - but the lesson is called "How to use a pick"

Thanks for the link.

This is quite a different technique to many others shown elsewhere, where the pick seems to lie at a 90 degree angle to the thumb. I wonder if there is a particular advantage to this method or if it's one the instructor just happened to chance upon?
