If $200 is your limit, I'd go with something around 40 watts. These are both good options.

Here's one from RMS: http://www.amazon.com/RMS-Watt-Acoustic-Guitar-Amp/dp/B0015GTOSW/ref=sr_1_35?ie=UTF8&qid=1437005537&sr=8-35&keywords=acoustic+guitar+amp

And an Acoustic A40: http://www.amazon.com/Acoustic-A40-40W-Guitar-Combo/dp/B00PWMQ75I/ref=sr_1_26?ie=UTF8&qid=1437005522&sr=8-26&keywords=acoustic+guitar+amp

It'll be hard to get something with anymore size in that price range.

My suggestion on Amps is go with a Fender. You can get a Fender Mustang 40 watt new for about 200.00 and if you want to spend a bit more you can move up to a Fender Champion 100 watt for 350.00 at Guitar Center. The Champ is the next one that I plan on buying, and if you look around, you might even find a used one on GC for 200 if any come up on the site for used.

The thing is that GuitarMesh really helped me a lot when I started learning it in my initial days. Glad you found it useful too.

I can confirm their Mustang’s are great for around the house. I first bought a Marshall, but then exchanged it for the 100 watt Mustang a week ago. Best amp decision I’ve made.

Is the Mustang amp suitable for Acoustic guitar? I thought it was just for electric?

Yes, the Mustangs have over 100 presets, many of them clean which will be well suited to an acoustic/electric....don’t take my word for it. They should let you test at your local music store. Works well with my Fender acoustic Hellcat.

Keep in mind more watts=more volume. If you have neighbors near by like an apartment, you probably will not want 100 watts :)

Hi ! Sorry for the late reply.

I've a Fender Mustang GT 40 and after the hundreds of factory presets, there are a lot of empty solts with a basic studio pre-amp. Those "empty" presets are ready for edition, but you can use them to play your acoustic guitar as the Studio pre-amp is just the sound of your guitar itself. So this works very well with an electro-acoustic guitar.

Hope it helps.

Regards

I have found some reviews on https://www.soundspeakerwiki.com/ and saw that they have reviewed and listed the Best Amplifires out there in the market. For making the list they tried to get review frm people wh uses amps and included the prices. Also they include the prs and cons to find which one is suitable according to budget. Whereas I found it useful because they also provide additional information about the features that will help every musicians out there. As there are so many informations about the Amps I suggested that Blog to some of my friends. They also loved the blog and thanked them by e-mail.

Hi Linda!

Although you can play an e-acoustic through a pre-amped electric amp, for e-acoustic with a integral pre-amp, IME a purposed acoustic specific amp does sound superior.

For your budget, typically you could buy a versatile Fender Acoustasonic 40. Despite my healthy scepticism of their prominent brand marketing, they do make acoustic amps worth considering IME. Reviews here and here.

At 40W, it'd have more than sufficient grunt to blow you away in your intended home 'stage'. It'd do fine for gigging typical small acoustic venues too, and comes with the bonus of a mic input with mixing controls for the instrument/vocal mix balance. I have Fender's smaller 15W sibling, which surprised me. I wasn't a Fender brand fanboy prior to purchase, and wouldn't say I was now, but I absolutely love how it sounds.

40W would be more than adequate for home use. I use the 15W Acoustasonic in my HT room cum home music studio which is a decent sized 4M x 4M (13½' x 13½') and carpeted, which deadens/absorbs the sound a little. Perfect for my e-acoustic APX600. 40W would rock an average house at full noise. I'd be confident enough to say 40W would even do fine gigging coffee shop type venues too at more modest volume typical single performer or background acoustic entertainment levels. I have three other electric amps to compare with BTW, a 100W (2x12") Fender Champion 100 modelling, 40W (2x6.5") Blackstar ID:Core 40 programable modelling, & ultra portable 6W Blackstar Fly 3+103 (2x3" in the 3+103) combo) as well as a Superlux portable PA system, a clone equivalent of Yamaha's since superseded Stagepas 300. 300W (2x8" woofers @150W) of noise mixing goodness.

If you've got an unamplified pure acoustic, you have a couple of options in regard to fitting a pickup, with or without pre-amp which alters your purchasing considerations. Alternatively, you could consider mic-ing it through a mixer, an all in one system like Yamahas Stagepas 400i or slightly cheaper Behringer Europort EPS500MP3 et al but that'd be well outside your intended budget. Fender make similar portable PA system series called Passport, but they are crazily priced comparitively.

It can certainly be used fuzzb0x, but IME it won't sound as good as an purposed acoustic amp if the acoustic is an e-acoustic with pre-amped output unless the amp used has a true bypass clean channel selectable option like my Fender Champion 100.

i.e. I could use my APX600 e-acoustic with my Blackstar ID:Core which sans LCD is similar in many respects to Fender's Mustang GT. But because there is no true clean amplifier pre-amp bypass channel, it doesn't sound as good IMO as it does on either the purposed Acoustasonic or bypass selectable input Champion.

OTOH if the intended guitar was a pure acoustic fitted just with a typical portable sound hole passive pickup without pre-amp stage, it'd sound fine in a pre-amped electric amp input like the ID:Core or Mustang GT, and a little virtual app or real world tactile knob fiddling would result in acceptable if not optimal tones.

If noise is all that's wanted, amp choice and pre-amping is immaterial. OTOH .....

Oops. Fell into the trap of not checking the date of the OP's post. o.O

Responded to a long since stale original post. Apologies. Regardless, done now so will leave the posts up for search in case someone else has the same inquiry.
