Hi,

When using the pick I use my pinky finger from my right hand as anchor on the guitar body as I strum trough the strings.

Is this a bad practice? Should my hand be floating over the strings without an anchor?

Thanks.

It's not necessarily bad. Lots of players do that & play just fine. It might hinder your ability to freely strum certain patterns. So, I encourage you to work on playing without anchoring your pinky.

That way, you have the option available if you encounter a musical situation in which it's impractical to anchor your pinky. But otherwise continue to use that anchoring technique if it helps you.

Make sense?

Hope that helps. Ask more if necessary & best of success!
