finger picking or thump style

I am a newbie to guitar playing. Should i start learning playing guitar using finger picking (which i like) or should start using the thump and later on learn finger picking style?

You can also use a pick! :) Since you are just starting out you might need to simply rely on one finger or a pick for now. At least until you build some skill with your fretting hand. Then you can start add finger picking to the mix.

Also, this will be determined by your goals. What kind of music do you want to play? Does it rely heavily on finger picking? If so, then you'll want to work finger picking into your learning & practicing routine as quickly as possible. If not, then you can play with a pick.
