Get a Jackson/Ibanez/Gibson and either get some really nice humbuckers with it or some emg's and a marshall amp and maybe and head. for the metal sound...by punk rock, do you mean that power chord crap?? I think a cheap fender would be fine and cheap amp to pull off the "punk rock" sound
