I have recently purchased an Alesis Modfx compressor off musciansfriend.com for about $40. Now, I now its not exactly a class A pedal, but for $40 I couldnt pass it up, especially since I needed some compression to enhance my live playing.

Unfortunatley, though, Im not experienced with compression, and need some advice on how to get started with all the settings. I basically want tighter sounding bass on my power chords to where everything does not come out as over-distorted fuzz at high volume. There are options for classic, opto, de-ess, and other compression types, but i have no idea what is what.

Any help is apprieciated
