Well, when i started playing, i played acoustic for about 2 years, learning easy songs such as the love song ( Tesla), and silient lucidity ( queensryche).

It took me about 2 years to get my strat, and now i focus on more techinical stuff. But i have to say. I say i play about 2 hours aa week day. about 3/4 of that time is fun stuff. The other 1/4 is the techinical stuff.

Trey Anastasio was a junior or senior in high school when he first picked up the guitar (after many years of drumming), and if that doesn't give hope to any "late bloomers," then nothing will.
E-mail me if you have never heard of Trey.

Hi all,

is age really that important?
I believe it's more about dedication and passion. When you love to play, and you spend enough time with your guitar on your lap, you can do some great stuff even after a few months.
I'm 24 now, and I've been playing only for three months now. I guess I started playing very late, but that absolutely doesn't hold me back. I believe that if i keep practicing every day, i will be able to do some great stuff within a year or so.

-- All you young "pups" (ha ha) have such an advantage over me. I just became a grandma, I'm over 40 and beginning to think that I ought to find a porch and rocking chair and give up. I've only been playing for about 10 months and having a blast doing it. I received an Ibanez 370dx for Christmas along with a Line 6 amp and a decent cab. Hopefully I'll be able to give this a hell of a work out before I'm a senior citizen. Whats that phrase "Go hard or go home" Well I'm trying :D

I'm not sure when he started but Andy Summers of the Police didn't hit it big time til his mid 30's, there is a chance for those who start late.

sure, but he had been playing his trade with a few cult bands before hitting paydirt in the late 70s and had a reputation as a decent player.
