You don't want to mix using headphones, get a cheep pare of flat response monitors.

Headphones are bad for several reasons:

they distort the spatial localization of instruments when you pan.

they done accurately reproduce frequencies. Net end result of this is harmonies sound in when they are in fact out, a fact that may only come to light when you are showing off your work to friend through speakers....

they negate any ambiance (air) that speakers produce.

I use Aliesis M1 Active bi- amplified flat response speakers. They are about 400 USD
