How do I do it all myself? Well I guess I'm just a musical protegy child. I use a zoom MRS 1044, and only use drum machine when I have to, but sometimes I do this. I have never found it that hard, I always map the song out before, then record the rhythm (or play over the drum track). Then I add a bass simulator. Then I do the guitar solo. Then lead and backing vocals. Then its just a process of listening, redoing stuff and adding in cool fill lines. Send me some of your stuff some time, I'll give ya some pointers.

BTW - I know it means "progressive." I look mean at you and your short abbreviated words  .

What I need is a drum program... some type of software. Then my life would be complete.

I hear ya. I hate the drum machine on the multitrack I have. It might sound good, but there are so many tempo changes and section changes in the songs I write, its nearly impossible to use it.

Nah. I think you have an extra pair of arms you're hiding somewhere. hehehe j/k

To me its just difficult playing the guitar and the drum simulator at the same time because I dont use the same beat over and over again. I also like to add drums rolls and stuff which is pretty difficult to do when i'm playing the guitar and singing at the same time.
"Lets see… well I play the guitar and when I'm not playing the guitar, I think about playing the guitar. My other favorite instrument, is the guitar and if I aspired to play any other instrument, it would be the guitar...

I can’t sing so I sing through my guitar. So when the sound guy says: “Your guitar is too loud!” I think: "Why does he never say that to the vocalist?"

Rush is prog? Yeah, I guess so. I thought of them more as 80s rock. And Dream Theatre is definitely metal. Prog Rock is Pink Floyd or Emerson Lake and Palmer.

Actually, Pink Floyd is Art Rock, but ELP is Prog. Listen to 70's Rush, very Progressive music. Dream Theater is Prog Metal.

Other good Prog bands include Yes, King Crimson, old Genesis and Kansas.
