i used to well me an the other guitarist in my band would try an out do each other but that was when he was far better than me an i was not thinkin right an trying to prove myself its silly. guitar isnt about who can solo better, there are far more aspects to it suchas writing an putting feeling into what you play. now im as good guitar player as my other guitarist i dont feel the need to show off. (i say as good but were different he is a v. technical soloer an not a great song writer, whereas im messy soloer tho i like that, an a better song writer). but i would hold someone who can create more original and intersting ideas over someone who can solo well.
