The 500K means that the resistance between the end terminals is 500,000 Ohms. The A & B designate the amount of change in resistance value at the centre terminal relative to the motion of the shaft. Don't worry about it; just be aware that they are different.
That 'resistor' is actually a capacitor. The 223 means 22,000 pF (pico Farad) or 22 nF (nano Farad). So that is the Tone pot.
