split up parts of the solo too, dont try and play the whole thing at once.
when im learning maiden solos i try and learn it bar by bar, it takes a lot of patience but it helps out a lot. and improvise, dont try play everything the guy in the tab does, that'll make things grossly more complex.

That's a very good point about learning it bar by bar because there is no point in playing the parts you already know when trying to learn the other bits.
