It's easier to machine than steel... and I had a bloody great chunk of it sitting on my bench waiting for me to decide what to do with it! :D

As it turned out, it was the right choice - the result was very gratifying. If I had it to do again, I wouldn't change a thing. In fact, I have an early-production Odyssey V neck-through that I'm going to do something similar to. I loathe the Badass bridge that's on it now, so I'm designing a new bridge based on a big block of brass. I'll route a pocket into the top of the guitar body, and set the bridge block into it.
