By virtue of their electrical properties, tubes generate a special waveform when they're saturated, which is why tube engineering has tremendous tonal advantages over solid state or DSP solutions, particularly for crunch and lead sounds. Tubes enter the saturation zone gradually or softly, which lends tube-driven tone its trademark yet totally unique character.

We should all arrange to meet up on the chat sometime. It could be hard to arrange a time because of us all being in different time zones. It would be fun though ! I can go on pretty much anytime from 6-11 in the evening and i live in england and am not sure of the stupid time zone !
