The only possible way for you to go direct into the PA with your amp is if by some MIRACLE the people at Peavey decided to fit your amp with a Line Out. I don't think they did, so Mic'ing the speaker is about the only way to do it, short of doing the DI box. If you want to go direct into the PA, get yourself a floor processor like the Digitech GNX series or the RP series. I on occasion play out and go direct with my RP 200 because I don't wanna lug a homebrew Plexi stack out just for a jam session.

Oh and to answer your question, just plugging in your 100 watt POWER amp to a board will send entirely too much signal into the board and out to the amp. You WILL sound like s*h*i*t...guaranteed. If it would work, you wouldn't see people mic'ing the cabinets... Hell I wouldn't want to work more than I have to and positioning a mic at a cab is a hell of a lot more work than running a cable to a board...
