I need some help with my Peavey XXX tube head. I am trying to use a SWR Workingman 4x10 BASS speaker cabinet. For some reason this setup does not work with my current distortion. It sounds very muddy and unpleasant, as if I was deaf when I set it up.(It worked before with a Mesa Single Rectifier, so...)
I also tried my Peavey head with a crate 4x12 (unfortunately not mine) and it still sounded like crap.
My question is, since I don't know much about amp setups, should I get the speaker cabinet that actually goes with the head ($600 that I don't have!!!) or can I mess with the distortion to make it sound good ?
If anyone can help with this and maybe tell me what to put my Ultra distortion channel's knobs on would help me alot.....
I searched online for some good distortion setups (what to out the high;s, mid;s and low's on) and I played with it but NOTHING seems right......
HELP!!!!!
