First things first, learn how to read tabs (I'm sure you've already tackled this). I'd start out simple, learning the open "cowboy" chords. Get good at switching between them. You'll be suprised at how quickly you can play something that "sounds good". Once you're ready to work on some lead guitar riffs and solos, I'd recommend this site, it helped me alot back when I was first starting out: http://www.worldguitar.com/start.html
Blues is easy to play, but hard to feel.
