Well, at least he has a really good point. I wish he wasn't right, but he probably is.

My favorite song is by Static-X, 'The Only'. I don't really like much else they do, but there's a lot about that song that grabs ahold of me. I love it.

And no, I don't listen to it for the guitar work or musical depth. If I listened to that I wouldn't like it as much, and it would be a bit of a shame wasting one of the best songs from that entire market.

That's not entirely true, there is some incredible music in the field. You just have to wade through a rediculous amount of worthless crap to find it.

You got a point there. But the name makes the songs. So hate the songs you automaticly hate the name I think...
If I hear Linkin Park I directly think Oh well theres the crappy nu-metal band again. I wont even bother trying to listen to there songs.
I never hear any song on TV I say Hey that sounds nice let me take a look.
Back in the old days people made music filling in good lyrics. Now the lyrics are bad, and the music is even worst.

Why should I waste my time on crap-ass bands while I could listen to some great musicians like Queensryche or Malmsteen...

It seems our modern world is not caring about good (guitar)music anymore. There are some great guitarplayers out there who will never get to play on a stage, just because the people will refuse to listen to it. Bad reputation I guess..

I bett within 20 years everyone will grow long hair and is listening to heavy metal again...
It's just a musical fase we are going throught.

I've never considered Linkin Park nu-metal. I think of them as pop with some rap-metal influence. I think of nu-metal more as Scars of Life or SYX.

I've said this before but still...I think evry rant against a particular style is useless, cuz there are always some examples of good music in every style according to me. And actually how do we know where a certain style ends, music today is so mixed that such discussions are kind of futile...I personally like very much SOAD, Deftones and some Korn and I have heard some people putting them under the nu metal cathegory but still other people would say that they are not actually new metal. So actually I don't care who's new metal and who's not, it's a thing made up by journalists so that they can write easily their reviews and stuff, in my opinion.
The world is loaded, it's lit to pop, nobody is gonna stop!

^That's one way of explaining why there are about four times as many styles of music now than there were 30 years ago.

Most of the bands that I listen to people would put under the Nu-Metal category, which I think is a crock, but that just shows me that people who says those kind of things don't have a good ear for music. Especially when saying that the guitar players aren't talented. Of course there are a lot of those bands out there that are like that, and there maybe a few of the bands that I listen that have one single that sounds like that, but you can't judge a band off of one single. If you wanna know some of the bands that I'm talking about then check out my homepage: http://hometown.aol.com/thekornmeister/
