By virtue of their electrical properties, tubes generate a special waveform when they're saturated, which is why tube engineering has tremendous tonal advantages over solid state or DSP solutions, particularly for crunch and lead sounds. Tubes enter the saturation zone gradually or softly, which lends tube-driven tone its trademark yet totally unique character.

Best picks for speed must be not to thick but flexible. I agree the most the thin picks the are flexible suck for speed but i go for th medium thickness picks that are solid and wont flex. I find the really thick ones are to big and atually make it harder!
