By virtue of their electrical properties, tubes generate a special waveform when they're saturated, which is why tube engineering has tremendous tonal advantages over solid state or DSP solutions, particularly for crunch and lead sounds. Tubes enter the saturation zone gradually or softly, which lends tube-driven tone its trademark yet totally unique character.

i have some stuff up on guitar tricks under the name " carcass " but only one has audio to it and it sounds really bad cuz i recorded it a while back with a bad mic. I'm not in a band or anything but i have a bass player and another guitarist coming round this weekend so we might get some stuff to put up on guitar tricks :)
