Set you bottom 4 strings action to the same height(at 17th fret) and the top two(A E) to 1/64th lower.
Then set your pickups to 5/64th clearance on the low E to pole peice and then the high E to 6/64th(both set with the strings depressed at the last fret).These specs are or the vintage style pickus I think the Tex specials need a wider clearance like 8/64treble and 6/64 bass side.Check fender.com.
I set mine up like this and the pickups are very well balanced.If the pickups are too high they actually get harsh and too low they get weak.
