Fender- clean/blues. I've heard them used more for blues.
Crate- can be used well, but I would rather invest in a randall.
Mesa- Nofx uses them, so I don't think it's the best limiting them to metal.
Randall- rocks
Marshall- most commonly used by tone-deaf knob-crankers, but can sound very nice when used right.
Peavey- I've played one peavy amp and it was great for jazz. Past that I have no idea.
