Buying something of this nature, from a stranger (not even from a business), and for that kind of money is a GENUINE RISK!
For true collectors' value, refinishing the paint job (regardless of what condition it was in) and replacing all those parts is a grand degradation to the value. Real collectors would want to see close-up photos of the body/neck heel joint stamps and the serial number.
If the original finish is hacked, faded, dented, chipped, scratched, mangled; it's STILL more valuable on the VINTAGE market than a perfect re-finish.
I'm not saying I absolutlely doubt the story, but maybe the seller doesn't know these things??
